115mph 800mm FT Spitfire - FREE PLANS

DETAILS

The 800mm Spitfire is one my favorite plane hands down. One of the best performing plane I've ever flown, no bad tendencies, very fast and can also slow to a hover. I decided to change from a 7x6 APCe prop to a 7x7 APC fuel prop and the difference is night and day! I was flying with a FMS VooDoo and a Strega cruising at over 100 in formation, it was awesome. Everyone was super surprised that a scratch built DTFB airframe could performs so well.

WOW!! I didnt think DTFB could go that fast!!! I flew at this park when I was visiting a friend in Sunnyvale CA.... in July. Great spot to fly....

I am trying to push it to the limits and it handles great at 115!. I am hoping to reach over 130 with my future builds. Also you're spot on, this was filmed at Baylands park in Sunnyvale.

I use hot glue to create a nice seal around the hinge. It's very strong and I keep an eye on them for any lifting. I've had to re apply some glue a few times to keep everything solid.

Wow, this looks like tons of fun for not a whole lot of building effort and money!
Thank you Nic for showing us how far foamboard construction can be stretched.
I gave my sweet flying FT Spit to a friend and this will be a perfect replacement.

I finally got all the parts in, and I'm cutting foam. Can't wait to shred the sky with this one! I might try to improve the battery setup, removing the power pod every flight bugs me a bit.
