The Scimitar 215 is one of the newest releases from Blade. As a pure BNF racer, what sort of pilot would it suit?
This quad is fast. How fast? Definitely fast enough for anyone who wants to get serious about quad racing. As a ready to go aircraft for someone who doesn't want to invest time into building and tuning, it's a tempting package. Let's jump straight into the details.
What does it feature?
Inside the box of the BNF version, you'll find a pre-built quad that's ready to go. All you have to do is bind it up to your transmitter and get flying.
Under the shell, the Scimitar 215 comes with a Spektrum receiver specifically optimized for quad racing. It also has telemetry which takes your flight experience up a notch in terms of professionalism. That's why it's called the 'Pro 5"' version after all!
When it comes to the shell itself, the injection molded pod houses all of the vital components making it highly durable. It's a neat looking design that even houses a bunch of LEDs at the rear of the frame. These can be programmed with the Betaflight controller.
For your FPV experience, the quad comes with a Spektrum video transmitter. This is a 32 channel version with 25/200/600mW options for transmission power. This gives you lots of flexibility and means you can join in the fun at quad races where there are lots of other people using other channels. The camera is a Runcam, one of the top types out there at the moment. More specifically, it's a Spektrum edition Swift 2 with a 2.1mm lens, just in case you wanted to know.
The motors on this quad are 2206-2450Kv motors which give you quite a punch when combined with your own 4S 1300-1500mAh battery. They're more than enough to tear it up around a course or simply rip through some trees at top speed.
You're going to need a Spektrum compatible transmitter to fly the Blade Scimitar 215. A DX6e would be sufficient, but you'd probably benefit from having the extra features of a DX6 to get the most out of the race quad. You'll also need your own battery, charger and FPV headset or monitor.
