Durafly SlowPoke 1200mm PNF - Announcement

Durafly has just announced a new fun flyer with a classic look: the SlowPoke is a 1200mm wingspan EPO foam model. It looks like a great option for those out there without perfectly flat fields to take off and land in.

So who is the SlowPoke for?

Where this aircraft excels is in its ideal characteristics for 'fun flying'. What I'd describe this as is a largely carefree attitude to flying where there is little to no stress involved; unlike the experience of flying an expensive warbird that can sometimes be a handful, especially on landing and at slow airspeeds, this model is designed to be an easy and highly enjoyable airplane.

The sturdy landing gear with large tires opens the envelope of possible flying locations. With a 1200mm wingspan too, this is a plane you can chuck in the back of a car and take with you wherever.

The Durafly SlowPoke also has some nice scale detail that harks back to the early days of aviation, and model aviation. The dummy engine, for example, is rather nice. There's also a scale pilot and some bracing wires that attach to the wing.

Under the hood, there's a 40amp speed controller. With this power setup, you can use your common 3s batteries. The aircraft can fit anywhere from a 2200mAh to a 2700mAh lipo.

With scale FPV, and FPV in general, it's usually a good idea to use an aircraft that can fly fairly slowly - as the SlowPoke can slow down to a near walking pace, this plane fits the bill. Another great DIY option would be the FT Simple Scout. It's a barnstormer!
