DX8e Release!

With a price point of under $200, eight channels and a model memory of 250+, the newly announced Spektrum DX8e looks to be a seriously impressive option for pilots who need those few extra channels.

Spektrum says this radio is perfect for those with scale airplanes featuring flaps and retractable landing gear. With eight channels, you'll have plenty of functionality. The gimbals too are pretty impressive: access to tension and travel is available through the front of the radio without any disassembly required. This means that you can customise your setup to suit your flying style and your preferences.

A prime example of a model you'd use this radio with is the new E-Flite P-51 Mustang. With built-in telemetry, as one of the key features of this transmitter, you'll be able to fly higher-end models with confidence. The radio feeds back information such as battery voltage, signal quality and motor temperature. This really would take the guesswork out of your flying.

There are plenty of switches, and even a knob, that are all fully programmable for whatever you need. The interface on the screen is controlled with a scroll wheel and two extra buttons for 'clear' and 'back'. As a long-term user of the good old Spektrum DX6i, I know how helpful having these additional buttons would be!

This radio will be available for purchase in early May, so it won't be too long until you can pick one up. If you'd like to know more from the manufacturers themselves, the guys from Horizon Hobby talked in detail about the new Spektrum radio in their latest Thursday update video.

The DX8e will be a great fit for many RC flyers out there and we can't wait to try one out for ourselves. When we do, we'll update this article to give you a more detailed insight into the product. Be sure to check back for more!
