E-Flite Extra 300 1.3m - New From Horizon Hobby!

There’s a new E-Flite aerobatic plane in town, and it certainly looks a thrill to fly.

Who loves aerobatic RC planes? The Extra 300 is a legendary aircraft in the world of aerobatic flying. The E-flite Extra 300 3D 1.3m scales down the Extra to an airplane that everyone can own. I for one am excited to get some stick time on one of these.

This is a true scale replica of the world-renowned Extra 300 with a 3-4S compatible power system, digital, metal-geared servos and oversized control surfaces. With this kit, it's possible to fly anywhere from sport flying to unlimited 3D aerobatic capabilities.

What’s it like in the air?

Here's a demo flight video.

Features at a Glance

The E-Flite Extra is a scale replica airplane decked out with all the trimmings (including a pilot figure). The airframe is made from lightweight yet durable, composite-reinforced EPO foam which can really take what you throw at it (trust us, we’ve been there).

The powerplant is, as mentioned, 3S and 4S compatible 60A ESC and outrunner motor and a stylish wooden propeller.

The control surfaces have factory-installed digital (metal-geared) servos located in the wings and fuselage.

If you get the BNF version of the model, you’ll get a Spektrum 6-channel receiver with industry-leading DSMX® technology. You’ll also get AS3X technology for a buttery smooth flight experience. This makes so much of a difference to these E-Flite models and makes them fly like a simulator!

The feature that makes all the difference to these more complex and traditionally harder to fly model airplanes is the optional-use SAFE® Select. As you’ll probably know by now if you follow E-Flite products, SAFE can be toggled to limit your pitch and bank angles to effectively stop you from hitting the deck when you make a mistake. It can be extremely helpful!

Rugged landing gear with scale covers and wheel pants will make touch and go takeoffs a blast.

You also get a two piece wing that is connected together by a carbon fiber wing tube. All of these features combined surely have to create a fantastic flying RC aerobatic plane - we can't wait to fly one. If we do in the near future, we'll be sure to update this article with our thoughts.

Interesting for it to have a wooden prop standard, not often common with electric planes, unless if course its a plastic prop colored like wood.
