Who is this for?

A second airplane - As long as you have a little experience with another airplane, E-Flite says you'll be fine to fly this with AS3X and SAFE Select turned on.

Great first jet - superb choice if you want to get into EDF aircraft.

Cold War Jet Fans - scale details and an iconic shape makes this MiG a model for those who love early jets.

An In-Depth Look

Let's check out some of the features of this classic jet in more detail. Starting with the powerplant of the model, the MiG features an upgraded 28mm fan with a higher KV motor than the older version. This spins at 13,500Kv. E-Flite says that it produces more thrust, speed and a better sound when combined with the recommended 280mAh 2s battery.

But is it easy to fly? Well, like most of the aircraft produced by E-Flite these days, this plane features AS3X along with optional SAFE Select. For those who don't know, AS3X uses gyros to smooth your flight. It helps to make the model feel larger and improves it's penetrating power in windy conditions. The SAFE feature can be turned off, but essentially establishes pitch and bank angle limits. Even if you're a skilled pilot and feel you don't need any help, this could come in handy when hand launching or passing the model to a friend.

Scale detail is immediately noticeable with this model airplane. Let's be clear - the jet looks stunning. Fitted with an array of accurately recreated details, the MiG is a faithful miniaturized version of the real thing, even down to the wheel covers.

At this scale, it's impressive how much E-Flite has crammed in. The cockpit even has tiny little dials!

The intake is designed to both allow enough air to be sucked in by the EDF fan whilst retaining a scale look. You've also got the MiG's weaponry precisely modeled just in front of the steerable nose wheel (which, along with the other two wheels, can be removed).

If you're looking for a sleek warbird that can be flown by almost anyone in a small amount of space, this might be the plane for you. Check it out on Horizon Hobby's website.

My issue with this plane is I can go buy a jet from freewing with a 64mm edf with better scale detail and have it cost less than 100$

These are very different planes. I had the original Mig-15 and it’s a very easy to fly laid back plane that can scoot around and I could fly in tiny places. And while I love my $100 Motion 64mm series( I have 4 of them), they are way bigger, faster, and require way more effort and attention to fly. And yes this plane is more expensive for ‘’less plane”, I much prefer to fly the MiG.
