Power Pack B - For Lighter Planes

For cruising, the B pack is a great choice for many foam board planes. Here's more you that need to know.

If you have a small fixed-wing airplane that you need to power, Power Pack Bis a great choice. It's an efficient and simple motor/ESC combo meaning that you can fly for long periods of time if you have the right battery. All you'll need is a receiver and battery to complete your onboard electronic setup!

What's in the pack?

Layed out on a workbench, you can see how many bits and bobs you get inside one of these power packs.

The motor is an Emax 2213 which runs at 935kv. This means that you can spin a nice big prop (of around 9-10 inches).

The new ESC you get with this pack is a 20amp Emax which can handle up to a 4s battery.

The servos are Flite Test edition Emax 9 grams. You get five of them in this pack which is enough to build almost any of our Flite Test DIY airplanes!

You also get a whole load of extension cables including a 'Y' harness.

There are two different prop choices that come with this kit to suit your style of flying. This means you can really tailor your motor setup to get the best performance out of your model.

What sort of plane is this pack appropriate for?

As mentioned previously, you're not going to be rocketing around like a missile with this power pack. Instead, you'll be cruising. That's not to say that aerobatics and speed are out of the question, just that this setup is designed for lighter planes. Anything between 1-2lbs (500g-1kg) would be fine. This would be a good choice for a beginner's FT Spitfire for example.

If you want to try giving your motor a little more juice, try upgrading from a 3s battery to 4s battery. The new ESC included in this Power Pack can now handle the extra current.

Which Kits can you build with Flight Pack C?

I used this pack to make my aero-bicycle! It has been great for me because I am still new to RC electronics, and this gave me the opportunity to make something without having to worry about matching the motors and ESCs and things like that.
