Flying Wing Scratch Build - My First Flying Wing

Hi,

This my First ever Flying Wing. I have never flown a Wing before. I am learning how to fly a wing & sharing my experience with you friends.. 

But I decided to design & build my own flying wing.  So I designed and scratch built this wing.

All the specification, dimensions will be explained in coming video.

This wing is having KFM airfoil. The bottom surface is just a Sheet of Foamboard.  

The KFM step is 1 cm thick styrofoam, white foam or regular packaging foam.

The leading edge is created by sanding the foam at 45 degree angle.

The fins are made up of coroplast or plastic corrugated sheet.

All wing surface area is covered with cello tape.

I designed this wing keeping in mind that I am going to crash it a few times since I have never flown a wing till now.

So made it as crash resistant as possible.

The biggest challenge while designing this wing was the CG. As you know, flying wings are very difficult to fly & getting the CG right is very difficult.

But I have got the CG right in first attempt & I am so glad that I have managed to design a Flying Wing...)

The satisfaction that I get when I could see my own designed plane can fly , can't be described in words. Its amazing....

Few things I got to know about Flying Wings from this experience are as follows -

1.  Flying Wings needs just a little bit of UP elevator or " Reflex"  to fly   

2. CG has to be spot on. 

3. Start with very little throws like 50 % movement of elevons.

4. Its better to  have too much up elevator & pitching up while launching than no reflex & pitching down.

5. Learn to spot & correct the unwanted pitching or rolling movement immediately with trims. You have to be quick because it happens very fast.
