Giant FT Duster

Awhile back we were inspired to create some speed build kits based on the characters from Disney's movie 'Planes'.

FT Duster is one of Josh's favorite airplanes and in our Fire Rescue episode we put floats on him!

Cartoon airplanes are fun to design and paint.

We created FT Duster (Dusty) and the FT Racer (Ripslinger) speed build kits inspired by the Planes characters.

At Flite Fest 2015 there were all kinds of giant scale foam board project planes.

Along with some amazing designs at Flite Fest, Robert and his two sons designed a scratch built giant (300%) scale FT Duster.

Based on the original FT Duster plans, the Big Dusty also features a giant power pod!

This giant sized scratch built airplane is made of 1/2" foam board and thin plywood reinforcement.

These projects are fun for families and groups and it was a blast to see some of the amazing creations at this years Flite Fest.

Be sure to share your projects and custom foamboard scratch builds here on the website! Also, let us know what you'd like to see on upcoming Flite Test episodes!

adding floats would be cool, but I think you should build Skipper to scale with him. Oooo or maybe an El chacabrra ( the Gee Bee)!!!

Utrechtart.com has Elmers 20x30 1/2" foam board for $51 (10 sheets) along with 30x40 and 40x60 sizes. Uline.com has 40x60 and 40x96 but is fairly expensive at $18 per sheet or $34 per sheet respectively.
