I Bushwacked the Bushwacker... into a Tri Pacer

Everyone who knows Flite Test knows the Bushwacker. But did you know that the Bushwacker has a Cousin? If you look closely at the Bushwacker...

Can you see another airplane staring back at you... Can you see it? I did...  A Tweak here... A cut and trim there and it started to come alive...

What do we have here? It has a Tri Gear.... Hmmmm.... Tri... That's the key word!

Oh I know now... It's a Piper Tri Pacer, You know... one of these.

A steerable nose wheel, Turn the main gear around and move it back a bit. Modify the tail and wings and it really looks the part.

It has had several flights on it now before the color started going on it... And it still flies like the Bushwacker but now with a touch of class. Tri-Pacer Class!

Several Flights on it now with a few "Landings with Style" but it's still in one piece...

NIce! I wanted to do this with mine sometime, how did you mount the nosegear- by skipping power pod and using plywood firewall? FYI- I made a second BW and added 5 inches wing span, a bit of dihedral, and changed the ailerons a bit, and it flies really docile, and does inverted circles all day long. LOVE the BW design, just didnt think the first one flew all that great, stalled at the drop of a hat.

Another easy mod is to make wing struts with wood dowels, and attach with a bit of velco- quite light, works great, never lost one yet, except when I tangled with a light pole!

Tri Pacer is one of my all time fav planes. On the ground it rides like a tank.
