We had a great time at Joe Nall this year, and we really appreciate all the people that we had a chance to meet, fly with and build with!

Joe Nall Triple Tree Aerodrome is located in Woodruff, South Carolina.

Here are just a few still shots from the event:

This scratch built F6F Hellcat was made with Flying Penguin RC's build plans HERE.

Thanks to everyone who signed out airplane! This is just a fun way for us to remember the event!

We loved seeing all of the Flite Test Swappable builds at this event, great job!

We had fun building when the weather wasn't too good for flying! Thanks to everyone who joined in on the fun!

Brian's mini versa wing turned out really nice! We can't wait to see what you'll scratch build next time!

The electric line was huge this year! I think we heard that this area had 50% people then last year!?

It was a pleasure to meet Pat Hartness and learn more details about Joe Nall.

Looks like an awesome time was had!

Can anyone who's built a Versa Wing take a guess at the scale that mini one that Brian built is? I definitely wanna build one small like that.

i built a 50% wing and spitfire, they fly great and are much less intimidating to fly. i used 1.8g servos and 9g motor (but you could go bigger) and a full scale radio but a micro one would work great to, i used 3mm foam too :) the only problem was the balance on the wing, i had to change it to a blunt nose because the front got a bit smashed in testing but their are ways to avoid that ;)

Hi, yes as guessed by other commenters here the scale I used was about 50%. I say about because I shrank the plans with a steel rule one night from plans that were printed out on a single page and actually scaled them up lol. But it is essentially a 50% model. I used 2 regular 9 gram hextronic servos a 12 amp esc the motor I used I can't remember off the top of my head here at work but I will edit my post later to give you that information. also I just used regular foamboard from dollar tree to make this kit. It balances perfectly with a 850mah 3 cell nanotech pack from HK. With no weight added into the nose. Save for a nice big dab of hot glue injected just into the nose for those not so planned abrupt stops. Oh she's also got a strip of led lights on both sides of the spar for night flyin :) they are quite zippy. if you want to know more I would be happy to share just psst me please I would love to help out. The motor is a 2211-2300 turnigy outrunner with a 2mm shaft and a 4.75x4.75E prop. I made the motor mount from a broken sign i had found that is 3mm plastic. All I done there was shrink down the FT essentials design and hot glue it together. One last thing the ESC is a 10 amp rather than a 12 but either one will work fine. The throws are set for 50% through my radio and with 40% expo. during the build i just used the same techniques that josh uses in his full size versa build video. After I built the first one I traced the pattern out on a piece of walmart foam board it has a little bit harder covering so that I could just trace out another one quickly. To correct nearly everyone... this is not 50% (1/2) scale... it is 65%! Yours for only $4K. (plus engine and electronics)

Man, I wish we could have meetups like this in germany... Maybe we do, but what I've seen so far, strictly separated the spectators from the fliers and you'll have to be, I dunno, a minor celebrity toget the chance to fly.

The Pilatus has been available over here since they showed it at the Nuremberg Toy fair and I got mine just before the end of February.
It's more or less all I've ever flown since. Really nice finish, all hidden pushrods and hinges nice detaliling, sturdy landing gear. It's so nimble and docile at the same time I've even worked up the courage to fly it inverted and knife edge. A few gripes that I have about it is that you can't really access the center fuselage in stock form and the way the paint job rubs off very easily. Also they could have worked out a better way to support the battery...

Me and my wife were really glad to have met you guys there at Joe Nall. This is really an awesome place to camp out even if you are not into the hobby. I 2nd that! We all met awesome people and overall awesome time at Joe Nall. To all who is contemplating of going, I say just go at least once to really experience the spirit of Joe Nall.
