Hi all! Megan here. Instead of writing about myself in third person (because let’s be honest, that’s strange), I figured I’d write in first person to share a little background about myself.

First of all, as of writing this, I’ve now been with Flite Test for two whole months! (At the time of the recording it was only one.) The time is flying—pun intended—by and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of such a cohesive team that genuinely feels more like family.

I’ve lived in the Canton area for more than 20 years, so I guess I will claim it as my “hometown” even though I was born in Hawaii. I am married to my favorite person in the whole world, Corey, and we have a sweet puppy named Stella.

Prior to joining the Flite Test team, my experience with aviation was in the full-scale world. My dad has been in the military since I was born, so he inspired my desire to join as well. I was in the Air Force Reserve for eight years as a public affairs specialist. Youngstown Air Reserve Station flies the C-130 Hercules (swoon) and the main missions are aerial spray (the only one in the DoD, might I add) and humanitarian air drop. I loved my time in the service and the fact that had the opportunity to ride in the C-130s quite frequently to write stories about the missions we completed.

Because of how much I loved my career in the Air Force, I decided to go to school for public relations and marketing at Kent State University. After a myriad of jobs in corporate communications and nonprofits, I’ve found myself at Flite Test. (I also own my own photography and graphic design business on the side—Easterday Creative.)

At Flite Test, the title I’ve been given is content creator. However, I would say I lean more toward my communications and public relations background as I write articles, take photos, run our social media channels and connect with media outlets that desire to tell our story.

I am incredibly grateful to be here and look forward to continue to learn how to fly RC planes and quads. Oh, and I’m currently studying to take my 107 so I’ll be completely prepared and ready to fly.

Onward and upward!

-Megan

P.s. I look forward to getting to know some of you at this year’s Flite Fests! If you have any additional questions about me, what I do here at Flite Test or how to write an article please leave them in the comments below.

Great video podcast Stefan. A I knew there was something special about Megan. As an Air Force retiree, it's good to see someone taking their Air Force experience into the civilian world.
I don't know if there is enough interest, but I would real like to see an interview with Josh Bixler on the business management aspects of FliteTest.

For some of us having a structured outline is a great writing aid. Let me add that while writing the article, assume nothing. If the author is reporting something entirely new please explain what the new item is all about and how it applies to the plane
