MF-Typhoon Build

by MESA RC | May 22, 2015 | (6) Posted in How To

As promised by Ashton, the build video for the MF-Typhoon.  Many lunches went into this build, and staying true for his last two episodes of the program, he wanted to go solo. He did a great job and we hope that you get what you need out of this episode to build your very own Typhoon scratch build aircraft.  If you haven't done so already, download the plans and cut out your pieces and get ready.  You can also support the program and purchase the plane from Altitude Hobbies.

Plans: http://www.mesarc.club/#!plane-plans/ccb

Build Kits: http://www.altitudehobbies.com/mesa-rc-foam-fighters-kits

Step 1, cut out all pieces and crease all lines mentioned by Ashton.  You can also bevel them too, depends on your preference.

Step 2 Fuse together the midsection piece.

Step 3 create the bottom fuselage piece.

Step 4 attach the midsection to the bottom belly pan piece.

Attached bottom flaps to midsection.

Step 6 glue the back closed

Step 7 form the main fuselage pieces.

Step 8 add the spacers

Step 9 Form the front nose bottom section

Step 10 Form the top nose cone canard piece

Step 11 Glue the both top and nose cone pieces.

Step 12 Form the canards

Step 13 Install the servos and extensions

Step 14 Glue the main top wing pieces over the front leading edge of the midsection.

Step 15 Install the motor and esc

Step 16 Attach the canopy piece.

Step 17 Glue down the control horns with push rods

Step 18 place battery in the laser cut section of the removable nose cone piece.

Step 19 Find the CG using the marked off holes and go fly!

On behalf of the MESArcFF Program, we would like to thank the FliteTest Community for supporting Ashton through his 3 years of the program.  Each and every design brought to the table you guys watched and gave feedback too and that support has turned him into what he is today.  We wish Ashton the best of luck in High School and we hope to see him back in our ELITE program.

Thank you,

MESArcFF Team

That is a sharp looking plane. Nice build video also. Your class has produced some striking aircraft. What a great class to have available for school. I can only imagine how many more planes would be loitering my basement if I started back in my school days.

Wow. Just, wow. I wish I had a class like this way back when I was in school! It's too bad the program is loosing such a great kid! I'm sure he will be an ambassador for the hobby as well as an enthusiastic supporter on hobbyist for many years to come. Great design, great plane, can't wait to build it. I'm going to try to put and EDF 70mm or 90mm on the one I build. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you so much for your comment. It is viewers and supporters like you who allow our class's projects grow. Do let Mr. Marshall know about that EDF though, he will let me know about it. It sounds like a fun project.
Again, thanks so much for your support in the program. We couldn't do it without you.
I won't let you down.
