If you're like me you're always searching for good deals on batteries and ESC's, right? The unfortunate thing with buying from so many different sites or hobby stores is that the connector type is probably not your preferred plug type and it requires that you change the connector each time you get a new battery or ESC? It's not that we're bad at soldering connectors but it seems too time consuming and requires a big effort if you have to change quite a few at a time.
What I have discovered lately is that there is an alternative to soldering all new connections when you must make the change. I've converted all of my connections to the Anderson type plug. There is no soldering and you can swap the connector in minutes with no frustration of soldering, heat shrink, burnt fingers, and broken connections.
The connectors can be purchased from the Powerwerx website (link below) and requires a special crimp tool to get the perfect connection every time.The connectors and the crimp tool come in many sizes including 15 amp, 30 amp, and 45 amp.
Making the connections is easy and requires a short strip of the wire, loading of the connector, and crimping the wire into the connector.
After the connection is crimped, you can put on the color of connector on that you desire, and slide them together to complete the process. Reversing the way you put the two connectors between the battery and the ESC guarantees that you will always make the right connection every time.
If you're looking for an alternative to soldering your connections this may be the right answer for you.
I've been using this system for 20+ years and never had a problem. Initially, I was soldering the joints but later discovered the crimping tool and saved valuable time. I keep extra materials and tools with me at the flying field. This is a great resource for making any type of electrical connection. I use them on my tractor, battery tender, motorcycles, Power Wheels, R/C, etc.
