Vortex 150, Flite Fest West and 3D Printing-FTP139

by FliteTest | January 26, 2017 | (6) Posted in Podcasts

At Flite Test we love to create content that’s newer and better for our wonderful community. With that in mind, we decided we wanted to take our podcasts to the next level, so we’ve added VIDEO! Join us every Thursday for new podcasts as host, Stefan, talks about what’s going on at Flite Test, RC news, general aviation and more!

This week Stefan the Joshes chat about Flite Fest West, automated test stands for brushless motors, the Vortex 150, full-scale planes and the brand new FT Pietenpol.

Flite Fest West (#FFW17)

Our first-ever, west event will take place April 27-30, at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo, Cali. The venue is merely a hop, skip and a jump away from Sacramento and San Francisco. P.s. Registration is open NOW! Register here.

Automated Test Stand for Brushless Motors

Our friend Dave from Australia (AKA jollyswagman) wrote an incredible article about this stand. It fully-automated so all you must do is push a button and the controller does the rest! What sets it apart, you may ask? It will run up a motor in steps while taking thrust and current draw readings then uploads the data directly to Google Sheets. Read the full article here.

Vortex 150

We are loving this new quad here at Flite Test and have had tons of fun over the past week flying it and crashing it into trees. Look for its maiden voyage on YouTube in an upcoming vlog and you can purchase it here.

Sponsorship for Full Scale Planes

Do you have a love for full scale planes and desire to see more of covered by Flite Test? You can sponsor them! Go to our general aviation page to learn more.

FT Pietenpol

We are excited to announce that we will be releasing the brand new FT Pietenpol in our store on February 6! Josh B. worked hard to create this mini version of his full-scale Piet. We hope you’re as excited as we are about flying this beauty!

What do you think we should talk about on our podcasts? Share your ideas in the link below and stay tuned for more video podcasts every Thursday!

Hello Flite Test podcasters, On this show #139 at 16:45 you mention a video from Alex, and you were going to put a link in the notes. Did that happen, I can not find them. I would love to watch.

Thanks, Long time listener, first time poster.

Ken K. Keep up the great work.

Nailed it guys! Stephen, keep it evolving. And by the way, I am very honored that you mentioned the video I put up about my brother and I. I hope it brings inspiration to others to build, fly, crash and repeat with someone special. Thank you FT and keep up the great work.

I just had the opportunity to watch PODCAST 139 and found it informative and entertaining, much better than the audio version IMHO and will be looking forward to the next PODCAST. The pietenpol looks GREAT, looking forward to a build video and further information (history) you were talking about.

Josh S., keep going with the WWII veterans.

In about 1965 in Guam I learned to call them "flutaphones". After that, nobody ever knew what I was talking about. It was always "recorder" for everyone else.
