The Flite Test crew tested out the features of DJI’s new Phantom 4 quadcopter.
Like the Phantom 3, the Phantom 4 has GPS, altitude stabilization, and is an extremely capable aerial photography (AP) machine. CLICK HERE to learn more about the DJI Phantom 4.
The Phantom 4’s Tap to Fly system allows you to take off when you double tap your smartphone or tablet screen…and it works!
Another cool feature is ActiveTrack. This enables you to select the object you want to track and have the Phantom autonomously follow the object. You can even turn on Moving POI, and the Phantom will circle around the object or reframe the shot.
Sense and Avoid takes autonomous navigation to a new level. Unlike the Phantom 3, which would sense an obstacle and stop, the Phantom 4 reacts to what it senses and adjusts so that it avoids the obstacles in its path.
The Phantom 4 also features a new Sport Mode, which increases its speed. We tested it and reached speeds up to 45mph! We also tested the battery life, which is longer than the Phantom 3.
The Phantom 4 is a smooth and responsive flight experience and includes fantastic obstacle avoidance features.
Overall the Phantom 4 is great for aerial photography and comes ready to fly right out of the box. All you need is a smartphone or tablet, and you’re up in the air in no time!
