RC Manta Ray Airplane Maiden Flight Crash - Second

Wes got to thinking...Manta Rays look like they are flying in the water. So he thought he would build one to fly! This is all scratch built. It was his second attempt to get it airborne. I think by next week he will get it to actually fly with more nosewight!

Congratulations! It's great project.

The problem you have with Manta Ray I had with FT Old Fogey

It just swings, and keep swinging. I've try top put some nose weight (no result), I´ve lowered the diedral, almost plain (no results), try a lot of amounts of down thrust and right angle (It produced a little result in wind direction, but facing the wind same problem: swing until e rolls), I´ve try to dowsize props, I started with 9x4.7, then 8x4, 7x4, 6x3 (with no result)

Then I saw a post here in FT that someone had same problens and he managed to solve it adding 2 more vertical tails (Stabilizers). So If try same solution, and 2 more tails with fixed rudder and for fun add a vertical stabilizer on top of the wing like a punk air.

Anf it work just fine stopped balance one way to other and now it flies just great!

So maybe you need a tail with vertical stabilizer. Hope it helps!

Great looking plane. But it definitely looks like it has a thrust angle issue. Not a CG issue. Probably from the motor/prop being above the wings by so much. It also looks like it has too much dihedral. But giving it a slight downward thrust angle should fix all of it's problems.

Needs some down thrust.

Other than that, I loved this.
