I attend a large university, where hundreds of old computers are thrown out every year across campus. With all these composite multirotor frames on the market, I thought 'why not use the FR4 in circuit boards?'. I salvaged an old server from the IT department, and headed to my local TechShop
First I needed to remove all the components from the motherboard. A heatgun and some patience did the trick.
Then I used the ShopBot CNC router to mill out the frame pieces, designed in Solidworks.
I assembled some arms from parts I had laying around. Here I'm using 1/2" square basswood. Zip ties are my friends.
I quickly harnessed the ESC's together.
I used the multiwii flip flight controller for the first time on this project. It took a while to figure out, but it flies awesome!
how long time you need to remove every electronic component on the board? ;)

The Fip board is a great little controller. For the price, you can not beat it's performance and versatility.
