Introducing the WAVE/RASKL RC car from RotorX. These guys have been making some really interesting race drones for the past few years, but this time they've dipped their toes into the world of FPV race cars. We really do love everything RC related here at Flite Test, so let's take a closer look.
So what's so special about these micro cars? Well, for starters, you control them via a standard PS4 duelshock remote. You link the car with the controller and away you go.
This is done by attaching a RXWAVE module to your standard controller. In the future, RotorX plans to make many other vehicles that connect to this RXWave making it a sort of real-world gaming system! Drones, boats, planes, hovercrafts, tanks, and even robots are all part of RotorX's plan to expand this product line. On top of all this, there's an OrangeRX transmitter built right into the wave module making it DSMX compatible. You guessed it - this means you can control all sorts of RC vehicles with this same RXWAVE controller. Imagine using it with a Tiny Whoop or Tiny Whoov.

In terms of the video setup, with the same FPV technology you'd find in FPV racing quads, you can zip around up to 200 meters away with a car that fits in the palm of your hand. It's a little like sitting inside a Hotwheels car!
This camera setup is your bog standard 5.8ghz with low latency. The cars have a 25mw transmitters which work great going around corners and that sort of thing. You don't have to worry about being in direct line of sight with these things. You can also see your way through a dark room with the built-in LED headlights.
What's great is you get onboard recording to capture and save your driving experiences. As of now, many hobby grade FPV setups don't include this as standard meaning you have to have a separate DVR (digital video recorder). Also, on top of this, the recording feature is is onboard meaning you get some sweet 720p footage with no breakups or static. Hooray!
