Horizon Hobby has just announced a new RC airplane from Flyzone - it's the DHC-2T Turbo Beaver 1.5m Rx-R.
As bush planes go, the Beaver is pretty legendary to say the least. It's been a staple of backcountry aviation for decades. There have been many models of the DHC-2 that have come and gone, but now there's a brand new edition with a sweet looking motor upgrade. This is the 'Turbo' Beaver from Flyzone.
Still a 3S compatible airplane with all of the lights and features you might expect from the old Flyzone Bever but with a radical new look. This is all for $149.99 and a free six-channel receiver if you're one of the first to pre-order the model.
Just like the real retrofitted Turbo Beaver, you can expect powerful performance from this RC model airplane. It has a brushless system, as you would expect, equipped with a scale tri-blade prop that delivers all the thrust you need to get this thing moving at speed.
The aircraft flies scale and looks scale. Authentic panel lines, rivets and hatches are all molded into the airframe to provide you with the feeling that you own a proper piece of bush plane hardware. You also get an instrument panel, seats and clear windows that really add to the illusion.
LED navigation lighting is also included as a preinstalled feature. This is actually a functional attribute that will help you to fly in those low lighting conditions such as at dusk. They'll also look great reflecting off the water.
Other features such as the flaps give this aircraft great takeoff and landing capability. Paired with the wheels and floats, you can go almost anywhere. The wheels themselves are large bush tires for longer grass and less than smooth airstrips. In terms of the floats, these come included in the kit and are fitted with dual water rudders for easy water handling.
All you need to complete this model and get flying is a full-range, 5+ channel transmitter and receiver, an 1800–2200mAh 3S LiPo flight battery and a compatible LiPo charger. You can check out all of the transmitters and receivers that we stock on the Flite Test store.
