winter peaks

Once again I felt the need for some more mountain FPV flying in Bavaria. So I packed my stuff and together with my friend Marcel we drove around 4.5h in the hopes to empty some packs in an awesome scenery and sunny winter weather. The weather was quiet bad when we started our trip but when we arrived at our destination near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the very south of Germany the weather was geat. We were really excited and set up our ground stations as quickly as possible.

Finally in the air we had to find out that the air was only calm down in the valley. Closer to the mountain peaks the air was quiet turbulent. So it was too dangerous to fly close to the cliffs at that time. But the beautiful view was still worth it.

Thankfully the air became calmer and calmer and allowed some proximity flying later that day.

But as I found out the low winter sun can be dangerous. I wanted to fly through a gap between some big rock formations. Everything looked good when I did a low flyby so I decided to give it a try. But when I turned around to fly through the gap the rocks were really hard to see against the bright sun. It was not until the very last second that I could see exactly where the gap was. Luckily I was able to bank left just in time to avoid a total loss of my aircraft.

My main aircraft for this trip was my Ritewing Z3 which is still my favorite flying wing for the mountains. I only took my Ritewing Z2 with me as backup. As I didn't crash my Z3, the Z2 was not needed. My friend Marcel brought his TBS Discovery Pro with him. He was able to get some cool footage of a frozen lake (Eibsee) below the “Zugspitze” - Germany's highest mountain. Marcel was nice enough to allow me to use his frozen lake footage for my video.

Thank you Marcel, it was an awesome trip and hope to do some more later this year.

Seriously dude, you make the best videos in the world. I watched bergrausch so many times, and it was never boring. Keep it up the great work, and the great flying!!

Wow! That's quiet a compliment. I appreciate it :-)
If I had to pick one of my videos as my personal favorites, it would probably be bergrausch. Apart from the rain drops on the lens I'm quiet satisfied how it turned out.

No problem dude, I kinda liked the raindrops, because it was so matching with the music. Awesome gear what you have btw. I only flew fixed wing fpv not that far out because it's all to expensive...
