4K Underwater Drone Company Launches Kickstarter!

We love seeing innovative new tech here at Flite Test. It's safe to say that, in the field of remotely piloted cameras, over the last few years there's been quite an explosion of new products out there. Here's one that recently caught our attention.

The Nemo is an underwater vehicle equipped with a 4K camera that's currently being funded by a Kickstarter campaign. Combined with a VR headset for a FPV experience, this device seems like a pretty neat tool for diving expeditions and that sort of thing. It's able to dive to 100 meters (328ft) and has an operating time of 3 hours which means that it has quite a decent range for exploration.

So how does this 'underwater drone' work? Essentially, the watercraft uses ducted fans, or impellors, for its intellectual control system for multiple direction control. It uses a replaceable and chargeable battery, that can be easily swapped out. This battery can be charged in just 1.5 hours but deliver around 3 hours of performance - impressive!

Being immersed in water, the craft quite obviously uses far less power than an airborne drone meaning it can operate for much longer.

Here's some more information on the key stats:

So what comes in the box? Not only do you get the Nemo drone itself, but you also get a whole bunch of other gear to go with it. It's a little like having a DJI Mavic with a 'Fly More Combo' included. It's great that you get a bag to carry it all in as there's a lot of stuff here!

If you'd like to find out more about this Kickstarter project, head on over to the Kickstarter page. If we get the opportunity, we're looking forward to getting our hands on one of these underwater drones for ourselves. Maybe we can use one to find some sunken Flite Test seaplanes!
