FPV RC Racing test

-agility training
-RC Racing Idea
-Goal 4-5 planes up at same time

 

 

Can it be done for a Race? I been thinking of this for some time now and the wing setup seem to be very fast and twitchy to my liking =)

I don't know much about FPV but I think the idea is really great. Like lonewolf I'd be a little concerned about not being able to see your 'gates' very well. I'm new to the hobby but you could just grab some balloons tied down with three streamers in a tripod configuration. Should be cheap, easy, and wont be affect by wind all that bad. Plus it would be easy to see 'Damage' to the gates and deduct points, time, ect. Keep us up to date!

The race aspect is nothing new but adding fpv to that creates some issues. What frequency, how do you keep everyone on a separate channel legally? 5.8 perhaps? EEP wings would make the best platform for such tight races where some "bumping" may be going on. I would suggest something taller than those cones though, gates to fly around or through perhaps.

I am going to try this racing idea even if its just me and my flying buddy and what I have been thinking is not only locations to go around but things to fly under to make it interesting. This would be a blast with a few more people.

We have three racers on my end. We will be working something up when the weather gets a little better. Did some night flying last night and that was a blast.

When the weather gets a little nicer we are hoping to do some plane and quad racing right now. Hope you find some other flying buddies.
