AnyCopter Hub Kit - Build

The AnyCopter Hub Kit is available in our web store.  We also have PDF plans available below.With the AnyCopter Hub Kit you will have the ability to create tricopters, quad-copters, hexicopters and more!We have a full list of recommended electronics that work great with your multi-rotor. Items like the Hobbyking KK2.0 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board fit great inside the AnyCopter Hub.The AnyCopter Hub Kit includes only the wood components. You will need to purchase additional nuts and bolts to complete your assembly.  

We have nuts and bolts available in our web store, along with Rotor Bones components which can help you complete your custom multi-rotor aircraft.

The bolts will be a little long, these can be trimmed down if or you can leave them to length.

When attaching your velcro strips, a trick that we like to do is match up the velcro so it will secure to the battery which will help hold it in place.

The fun thing about the AnyCopter Hub Kit is that you have the ability to build up a quadcopter and in just a few minutes can rebuild it into a tricopter or even a hexicopter!

With the way that the hub kit is designs, and all of the mounting holes, the possibilities are endless!

Chad could you put up your sunglasses when you talk directly in the camera. I understand that it is necessary when flying in a hard sun, but when you ain't flying I find it a bit detached or impersonal when one talks to you with it sun glasses on. One can't see your eyes.

But otherwise very well explained!!!!!

Beyond the simple build - I think it was awesome that Chad spent time just casually pointing out his key "pro tips" for the multi-rotor issues that crop up. Tons of great information in this video!

It seems like the KK 2.0 board is on backorder at HobbyKing and probably wont be in stock for awhile. Is there anywhere else to buy it? Or is their an alternative for a similar price that you would recommend?

You can always buy one on eBay if you're in a hurry. Of course you'll be paying a premium, but you'll get it a lot faster and for not too much over the cost of the board plus shipping from Kong Kong.

I like the anycopter product and video. BTW if you buy the Blue Wonder (2712-12 24G) from LazerToyz don't forget to order prop adapters as these motors don't come with them like the HK motor does. Just waiting on my prop adapters to fight test a new quad.

Chad says that the Multistar ESCs that he used don't require flashing. If you use something other than the Multistar, you should search YouTube for a video on flashing SimonK firmware on the particular ESC you're using. The basic steps are the same, but depending on the ESC, there may be a difference in the programming tool or .hex file you use.

I am building a hex with this kit and I want to have the same setup Chad made in the bat bone video. Can anyone recommend a motor that would work well with a hex setup that has the AnyCopter frame, the RCTimer brushless gimbal and GoPro Hero 3? I ordered HK 20A ESC's, but the Park300 1380kv motor is out of stock. They have a Park300 1600kv, but I don't know if that would be good for a hex. Also, any suggestion for prop and battery size?

I've used the Contact form on this site, I've posted to the Flite Test Facebook page and I even direct messaged Chad on Facebook and still no answer to this question. The parts take about 5 weeks to ship from Hobbyking to Canada, so I wanted to order my stuff soon. My AnyCopter kit will be here and I'll have nothing to do with it. Please, please, please respond. Thanks!!!

Well, I couldn't figure out a good way to mount an OpenPilot CC3D on the AnyCopter Hub so I laser cut out of hobby plywood an adapter - it's simple, but effective for mounting any flight controller with 30mm mounting holes. I made a couple extra, if you need one contact me. I'm posting more info in the forums.

Hi,
I am totally new at this, so please forgive what may sound like a silly question. I noticed suggested props to use were all the same except for the colour i.e. RH Props and two LH Props were not listed. Can someone please confirm this? I did purchase what was listed however they are all the same unless you mount the prop in the opposite direction i.e. with the lettering on the prop facing down??

Hi, running the proposed prop/engine combo (8045 / parkfly300 1380) in the xCopter calculator yields some warnings, especially that we're exceeding the max motor current with 0.5-1.5 A (depending on exact PConst..)

Does it work or am I risking burning my motors?

There's also a overheating warning if choosing the "full" battery option, but it's 85C, so it might be OK..

I'm very new to this field but really like to make these models. I made one according to the spec exactly the same shown in the video but do not now much about tuning the KK2 board. I read thousands of articles in the web to tune the KK2 board but I still not be able to fly this. When I turn the throttle on, it moves to a side and not going up steadily. Cold you please help me on KK2 correct values for this model?

Just a note to any one building the any copter using the park300 motor. If using the flite test motor mount (Works awesome) the screws that come with the motor are too short. it will only grab on with 1 or 2 threads.. one hard landing they will pop right out, I used a m3x5 and it works perfect you could probably get away with a M3x6 but might need a washer if the scew somes to close to the inner motor..

Anyone have recommendations for what transmitter and receiver should i use for this? and does anyone know if i can use the transmitter that came with my syma X5SW/X5SW-1 will work for this build.
