Blade 70s Micro RC Helicopter

Here on Flite Test, we're a little guilty of neglecting helicopters. With all of the other exciting RC products out there, sometimes they get left behind. Today, though, we're breaking down the new Blade 70s RTF Ultra-Micro helicopter. Let's go!

Spec

As a small light micro helicopter equipped with SAFE technology, the Blade 70s is an impressively durable and stable machine.

It has a direct-drive tail motor mounted to a carbon fiber tail boom which keeps the aircraft tracking precisely. For main lift and elevation control, the 70s uses a fixed-pitch rotor setup powered by a brushed motor. Although this doesn't sound too high tech, it works perfectly for an RC helicopter of this size.

Under the hood, you can see what makes this tiny flying machine tick. The frame is made of an extremely durable composite of plastics which allows you to fly with confidence. It's always a good feeling when you know you won't write off your brand new model on its first flights. If you do break apart, though, you can order spares.

What's in the Box?

To answer the question: everything! The RTF version comes with everything you need to get flying. As the first thing you'll want to lift out of the box it is the model itself. At just 34g, you'll notice how light to the touch it feels.

The included controller is really very nice for this price point of $59.99. There's also a 1s 150mAh battery included along with a USB charger. This makes it super easy to get everything set up for your first flight. For a beginner, it's intuitive and straightforward.

Flight Experience

With the stock controller, the flight experience feels super locked in! The direct drive tail rotor and brushed motor really does make flying the helicopter easy. For a pilot new to helicopters, the 70s is a great choice. You don't need to worry about breaking it due to the robust construction and micro form factor. It's also for indoor use, meaning that you don't need to rely on the weather to get some hovering practice in. The sound of the rotors is also quite unique and fun to hear!

Final Thoughts

The new Blade 70s is a great little model to own irrespective of whether you've flown a helicopter before (or anything else for that matter). It's not for outdoor use, but that's just fine for what the aircraft is intended for; fun flying is simply a blast.
