Diy LED Remote Receiver on-off Switch

I was looking how to make a diy remote on / of  for led and i come up with a idea to use a servo and actually worked so i hope will be useful for someone....
of course you can buy a switch from Hobby/king for a 10$,but i already have a
servo and usually work pretty well

Hi, Great idea ! i bought the hobbyking switches, but you could have saved me $8 if i had seen this, and i could have bought a $2 servo instead :-)

Perfect use for all those servos with stripped gears. Thanks for nice idea. High voltage servos could switch on 12 volt led strip :D
If you put other led with reversed polarity, then i suppose 3-position switch could be: led1 on, off, led 2 on. Right?

I don'T know i've got a dx5 so i don't have a 3position switch,but i think will work,the only things is to set the potentiometer in the middle position,or you can totaly removed the potentiometer....i have to check...

Should work. Just keep in mind that you don't overload the ESC's BEC which provides the voltage for your Rx. If you put too much load (too many lights) you risk getting brownouts (Rx not receiving enough power) in certain cases.

I wonder if someone could use an esc to do 12v LED's using a gear switch, that way you can ues a different battery for your lights and still be able to switch them on.

u can use a brushed esc like david did in F-18 LED Afterburners ,

Hi, I have built two of these now as I had some sub 9g servos fail on me which we're in a foamie. I however slightly modified your idea by using 2resistors of 2.5k each joined together and then soldered in place of the pot, this gives a less bulky profile and can then be fitted into the smallest of models. Just an idea for you to try, but thanks for the inspiration in the first place :-)

what a great idea!!!! you just saved me a lot time and money!!! i am planing to solder a medium glow plug so i can activate rockets remotely from a tx switch thanks again for such an awesome idea!!!
