FPV Ground Station

UPDATE: i got some coloured packing tape with 6 colours in the pack for $5 (i got it from kmart) and it is cheaper than hobbyking (hobby king price $1.66 + 280grams for shipping but at kmart it was $0.83 ) and i covered the white foamboard on the bottom.

This was taken on my phone so that is why these images aren't the best

Here is the completed unit. if i wanted to make it better i would cover the foam at the bottom with something. i will proberly add swiches and a dvr later, but i don't have a DVR yet.

 First step

well i used a pelecan case that is old that was lying around. it is quite a small box.

i used a moniter that i also had laying around and i don't know where it came from. and here is the back after i had took off the box/protection off to decrease the width.

Step 2 : cutting the foamboard.

so i took the foam insert that was in the box and then i used a pen to mark the outline

then i cut the foamboard.

i made two of these to make 10mm foam so it hold the moniter better.

now i put the moniter in the foam

i then i tested the fit in the box and decided that the foam needed to be black. so it got some black electrical tape and then put tape over the white foam. then i put it back in the box

 Step 3 : other panel.

i now have to make the bottom board. i used the method i used to cut the other foam. and also cut a hole for the reciever.

i then hot glued the receiver in with my new hot glue gun replacing a old small dripping hot glue. this new one is heeps better it doesn't drip and i don't have a photo of it but it is a Bostix HG3.

i then put it in the box and then powerd it up i used a 9v battery to power the reciever but i would NOT recommend this because the battery runs out really fast like 5-10 minutes and i will be upgrading this battery for a 5v/5A and then hack it like rcmodel reviews did and mod it so it outputs 10volts UPDATE: i found a 7.4v 700mah nimh battery . and the other baterry is an 2200Mah 3s battery that i had spare .

i had to make a lead for this because i didn't have the same connector was on the battery. the reason why i didn't cut it off was because i have a rc car that i had for a while. and i didn't have any female xt60 left. i used a deans connector which i only had the female connector to charge it because i have no female xt60( i mainly use) and i have a charger lead with a bunch of coneccotrs on there and the was a deans. then i used a 9volt batttery clip so i can connect to the reciever and not have to resolder another connector on ( i previosly used a 9v battery) and that other connector (not sure the name, can some one tell me) that i got from the old charger for another battery which is now completely dead( can't recharge ). now your proberly thinking why didn't you use the other charger, well that was because i can have only one charger for all of my batterys and the other battery charger was 9.6volts not 7.4volts.
