Hey everyone here's my latest design a Mighty Mini sized Dewoitine D.520. This was a plane designed to be fast and sporty, while still being a quick easy build all the while staying durable.

  • FAQ:

How should you fly one?

There are two distinct ways to fly this plane The first being in a scale manner which includes doing some low to the ground strafing, or some nice, slow scale rolls ands loops. Choosing a "scale" paint scheme will help enhance it's scale appearance while it's flying through the air. Flite Test has made a  great article on how to paint your aircraft using an airbrush Check it out here. Even if you don't have an airbrush I found that those techniques could still be applied using basic rattle cans. Another thing you could do to further elevate the scale appearance is to add a clear canopy, I made an article on how to do so.

The other way to fly it in a fast and sporty manner. This style is a lot more of flying fast and low and making tight fast turns, and even with a 3s battery I found I could get it up to 60 mph with a 2205 motor. I also highly suggest adding a high visibility paint scheme, as seen in the video, to help keep your orientation while you're flying at top speeds.

How hard is it to fly?

This is definitely a 4th or 5th plane made for those who want to try flying a faster less forgiving plane to improve their flying skills. If you're looking for a good beginner warbird you might want to try the P-39 I made or the FT Mini Mustang.

Any bad tendencies?

No not really except the stall speed is a little higher than you typical FT style plane, and the ailerons can get mushy at lower speeds which also includes launching but with a solid toss that can easily be avoided.

How easy is it to access my electronics?

The access hatch on this plane span the nearly whole root of the wing making it easy to swap out batteries/electronics.

If you were to put a smaller motor in it could you get it to fly at a scale speed?

Yes absolutely, but I also noticed that with a 2205 motor on 3s with a 6x4 prop it's still capable of flying at a scale speed.

Nice job! I was wondering if anyone made a french mighty mini! Is this scale to the mini corsair?

Yes, it runs off of the same power pack as the corsair and has a 26 inch wingspan.
