Ominus Vortex Challenge

We really enjoyed the Dromida Ominus when we first tried it out this past December. Now they have a new and improved model with FPV!

This out-of-the-box FPV platform works on wifi and connects to your phone. The app does work with both Apple and Android devices.

More info on the official site here: Dromida Ominus FPV

We haven't really made good use of the old driving range attached to our shop so we figured this would be the perfect place for a challenge!

The challenge is this. Make a TON of smoke rings with a vortex cannon and then see how many you can fly through!

The team with the most rings flown though in one fill of the cannon wins!

At the end of Round 1, Josh and Alex grabbed a total of 6 rings.

Sorry, all this smoke is getting to me; *cough* *cough*...BLOWOUT...*cough*

Looks like the Blue Team made an astounding comback! Can the Green Team respond?

Here are the final standings!

Over all this has the same look and feel of the original Ominus.

Some differences are the motor size; here you see the slimmer motor on the FPV platform which we guess is to compensate for the camera weight.

Also, the props are slightly bigger and come to a finer point on the new Ominus.

On a side note if you are looking to do this challenge at home, all you need is a trash can, a bungie cord, a shower curtain, and a fog machine.

This is an amazing amount of fun and a cool science lesson for the kids!

As always, thank you for your support and let us know how we should break this tie!

Awesome review guys! I had a lot of fun watching you guys do this challenge. Wonder what the tie breaker is going to be? :)

The tie breaker should be some way of making an automatic smoke ring cannon that austin can control with a transmitter - i.e aim and shoot would be randomized by the referee.

I think for the tie breaker you should have a team build off and see who can build the better plane

That would be pretty cool.

The tie breaker should be the pink eye thing from the Nano QX challenge.
