PT-17 Stearman from Raleigh Aeromasters

The members at Raleigh Aeromasters flying club gave us this scratch built Boeing PT-17 Stearman as a gift!

This scratch built (depron) foam flyer is a custom build based on the Eagle-RC.com Boeing PT-17 Boeing Stearman plans. Currently, the eagle-rc.com website is offline, but the plans are available HERE

Just about everyone at Raleigh Aeromasters flying club signed this PT-17.

Dr. Joey presented the custom made Stearman and we had a chance to do some flying with him!

This airplane handled great! As we performed knife-edges, loops, inverted and we were even able to hover it.

The paint scheme is fantastic on this scratch build airplane, they really put some time into this build.

We flew this at this years eWeek at Triple Tree Aerodrome.

This depron scratch built Stearman looks like it'd be a fun relatively easy to build.

This is a really nice design and this custom design, based on the original plans, is really impressive.

I usually don't like profile planes, but I really like the looks of this one in the air. Now, there are two profile planes I really have an interest in - this one and the one in Mr. Monroe's garage!

Where can I see more info on that huge cargo plane Peter was sporting? I don't want to build one, I would crash it and cry because of the time I would have put into it. I just want to see it flying and maybe of its guts and what not!

In Canada, Depron is like trying to source unicorn tears (which worked really well on my last build). Could you build this out of DTFB? Maybe paperless and 2 sheets glued together?

I have had templates cut for this plane for over a year now and just never gotten around to building it. Might just have to now.

Would also love to know a little about the mods he did to the one given to you all. It appears as though they have made the fuse thicker at the front and put a KF step on both wings.

Josh says about foamboard being so easy to get, but that's not the case everywhere. Over here in Europe it's a very hard to come by comodity, yet Depron is something we can get hold of pretty easily. It would be great if FT could make some planes out of Depron, maybe like a "Depron version" and a "DTFB version" of the same plane? And please, if there is a posibility of a build video of this plane, it would be great!!

One of the things I loved about the series JAG (apart from Harmon himself <3) was Rabb's Stearman!!

I'd really like to know where they sourced the landing gear it is so hard to find nice gear like that small enough for foam airframes.

Always did like the Stearman... Saw this one and I knew I needed to add it to my collection. I sized it up to 125% which brought it out to a 48 inch wingspan. I made a few changes and added a Radial engine to it to give it that stand off scale look. Hope to finish it up soon before the snow really starts to fly here... Mudman1959
