RC FPV Kit- OVERVIEW

by FliteTest | December 30, 2013 | (18) Posted in Projects

Today we take a look at the Ready Made RC 5.8GHz FPV Quick Start Package.

Included you will find:

  • RMRC-420N NTSC CCD Camera with built-in microphone

  • ImmersionRC 5.8GHz 600mW Transmitter

  • ImmersionRC 5.8GHz Uno Receiver

  • RMRC 8" Monitor

  • 1100mAh 3s Lipo for receiver and monitor with Y-Adapter and 2 Barrel Connector adapters

If you are also looking for a great beginner FPV platform, we recommend the FT Versa Wing. It is extremely durable and is built with only two sheets of foam!

David constructed a simple swappable FPV "pod" out of our FT Element Simple Firewall.

When starting out, it is usually a good idea to go with a monitor instead of goggles. If need be, it is much easier to look up from a monitor then remove goggles to find your plane.

To tower dive, or not to tower dive? That is the question. We say TO TOWER DIVE!

But tower diving comes with consequences. Here is just a bit of the damage.

RIP Mobius Action Cam 2013-2013. You were more than just a camera. You were a loyal and humble friend. We will never forget you.

So if you're new to FPV or just need a great setup check out Ready Made RC, and when you do, make sure to use the discount code FLITETEST10 for $10 off your order!

Thank you so much for watching! We truly couldn't get away with any of this stuff with out you.

Guys I've been flying off the 7" screen with sun shade the whole time tired the googles didn't like em and I take off and land with the screen leaning on my tote box sitting on a picnic table at the field. Also I have the 5.8 the 900 the 1.2 and honestly I like to use the 5.8 with a 72 radio and a power filter for the mini DVD and just have a ball.. !! just how I like it..!! ( less noise that way)

Cool beans. Question for anyone out there who can answer it. I have Boscam 5.8 200 from hobbywireless.com when I turn everything on I get a clear image but when just setting the image will black out for no reason. I have fox tech blue beams on the set up. What can be going on with my system. It's the same when I fly the image is awesome then boom black screen on my laptop goggles and 7 inch screen? Do I have a bad video tx or rx? Thanks

It sounds like it may be your vTx if it does the same thing consistently on different displays. If it's fine then blacks out after a while, that may be a heat issue? You might check to see that the heat sink can get plenty of airflow (All 3 of mine are covered in shrink-wrap, but work fine?), then check to see if it is on securely. The last thing may be to reduce input voltage to 9v, though I don't know if that will help much or at all in reducing the heat?

Thanks for the reply. Here is the kit I have from hobbywireless http://hobbywireless.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=117_88_92&products_id=726

The video tx does not seem to be all that hot. The problem starts as soon as I start up the unit, I am connected into my flight battery on my quad at the moment 2200 mah 20c 3 cell ( turnigy ) I've tried with just another 1000 mah 20c 3 cell and still same issue. I have a video on the issue from my iPad I posted on YouTube I'll post the link below the picture will be great then a black out but when this happens the power stays on on everything. I changed over to the fox tech blue beams I think there called and it helps a little I just did a bench test if you will. Plugged everything up inside of my brick home walked outside a out 100 yards away and video only broke up a little in my googles then pool black and back... Seems like the signal jut drops all at one time idk. Sorry for the long reply but thanks for your help. :)

Hi Guys,
You are always doing great FPV shows, but you have rarely addressed the issue of licensing. The readymade RC page for this rig has the disclaimer that in the US, you need to have an Amateur Radio license to use the system. Can you do an episode on how one would go about getting the required licenses in the US?

Thanks,
Josh Murphy

I feel sorry about your Mobius Action Cam, I had one Wing Camera form HK, and I did a litle depron box and painted it with Red Yellow and add some reflective tape to make easier to find it in case of it is dropped. from the model.

Very nice episode! Since I bought a used Immersion RC 5.8Ghz tx with removed stickers I think I got the 600mW version as well since I get a KM range from it. I was told it is the 25mW version (because only that is legal here) and I wondered how far I could go - now I know....
The resolution for 2014 could be for FT: Find the moebius cam....
Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr 2014!

How to power the video Rx and camera ? It looks like there is a splice to power the camera and video tx from a Deans connector that would connect to battery - is this set up you guys would recommend ? Assuming all boards are 12v - thanks
