DIY Servo Driven Rover

Hey guys! After my continuous rotation servo, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXxq7LYRdYI a fair amout of people wanted to see a video about the rover! So I got to work on the video and got it done yesterday. It took a long time to make since  a video I needed to make for school was more important that this video at the moment.

The driving footage wasn't the best, I'm not the best with my DSLR settings. However I really think I found good rendering settings finally. If you do end up building this, tell me!

The best tip I can offer you is to use half an easter egg, a piece of foam like I used sucks haha.

This is an awesome idea! I really love the way it leaves tracks in the snow!

Possibly an experiment would be to attach this to a cargo plane/wing. Team up with a friend. Drop the buggy from the plane either by a parachute or letting it go on a low pass and have your friend drive it back to safety.

I'm building this right now! Exactly same rover :D But my is smaler, as body I used depron 180x100x6mm. Wheals are from hobbyking, plastic 8cm. I control it via DX6i but it goes thru arduino.

Nice, I didn't think it would work so well in the powder, but I guess it does! I also like TehMaxwell's idea with dropping it off somewhere and driving it back. Keep up the great work!

It's long enough for me to get bored of driving it haha. But you can notice it getting slower after like 25 minutes of full speed with an 800 mah 3s

Meh, who cares, taking 4 servos and modding them into two continous servos only costs $8. They will last for a while probably.

I acually thought of that as I was making the servos. The trouble with it is that a lot of the times the servos will spin at some very small speed difference and that would cause a lot of binding, even without a track. But it would be sooooo awesome to build one with a track.
