 Name that Hex...

Introducing the WASP

A big thank you to all the cool folks that submitted names for this!

It has been a struggle to pick only one, with so many awesome submissions.

We have a winner.

Congratulations to Tracks!

Thank you sir!

Pat G's New Mini Hex frame.
Full CF top plate or Yellow G10 top plate.
Light weight 100% pure 3K Twill Weave Carbon Fiber lower plate and arms. 323 mm at the widest and 725 grams AUW with a 2200mah 3s and FPV gear. Arms will fit a range of motors and will accommodate 6 inch props!

The mini hex has greater real estate and payload capacity for a GoPro and all the other toys you can't fit on a mini quad.  The hex design also offers the advantage of redundancy - unlike a quad, hex can remain in the air if it loses a if a motor/prop/ESC in flight.

Just like the Minion quad, the hex is lightweight and tough enough to take a beating,  Total frame weight is only XXg and mounting holes sized to hold a 36x36mm flight controller like the Naze32.

The Mini Hex is available with a G10 or Carbon Fibre top plate.  The arms and bottom plate are always CF.  Some people prefer G10 for its radio transparency.

- 1x Mini Hex Top Plate 1mm CF or 1.5mm G10
- 1x Mini Hex Bottom Plate 2mm CF
- 6x Mini Hex Arms 2.5mm CF
- 1x Mini Hex Camera Mount 1.5mm CF
- 1x Mini Hex Fasteners Pack

Hey bdogzzz. Please pardon the lateness of my reply. Pat told me that a fellow by the name of Tracks posted the name on the TBRC forum on the 2nd of July. I am sorry for any misunderstanding man.

isn't this the same design as 'Sky Hero Spyder 6'?. Why a different name? Because it's smaller?

It is a different design by a different maker. It has a similar geometry perhaps... but they are not the same hex.

Well not to get you to design another mini hex. But I think it would be cool to be able to reposition the arms at the bend to also have the option to move the center of gravity. But it could make the arms a bit week but replaceable or a longer. Maybe fold out to a 450 mm spider. Lol that might be asking to much lol.

If you are talking about the black an white picture then that's not the way they go Zat put it like that just for the picture

I was just thinking about the arms in general. I built a mini out of hobby plywood. But I was thinking if the arms where positional you could change cameras and different gear and re-balance by moving the arms forward to lighten up the back or sweep the arms back to lighten up the front. It's just a thought.
