Since the new flying season and summer is about to begin, you need to get your FPV plane ready for takeoff. All you need ist your favorite setup, a suitable plane and lots of space for the electronics.
The standard Blunt Nose Versa fits to all these categories except the space inside. To give you all the possibilities you want, you can easily follow these few steps to make the versa honestly versatile:
All that has to be done, is cutting different doors into the existing bluntnose. Depending on the camera or battery you use, sizes may vary but you can use this general concept. The rear door has to be big enough for two bateries and the front one for your camera of choice. The gap inbetween is then reinforced with barbecuescewers
All hatches are hold inside the cuts by friction fit. If they should get loose one day, all edges can be doubled up with tape.
The first setup is the most frequently used one with camera and FPV: All doors are removed and the setup is fastened with velcro. We tested all setups with and without the doors and one doen't even notice any difference in flight performance or glide slope.
Second, there is the LOS-version (line-of-sight). The FPV tray is removed then and the main door can be closed. There will stay a small gap where the live camera took place but the wind resistance is minimal and some airflow over the battery is never a bad idea.
Third there comes the FPV-only setup. The main camera is removed and only the FPV pod with the battery is in place. Mostly there will be needed some weight or a bigger battery for CG but there is plenty of space underneath the camera hatch:
Fourthly comes the speed version with al hatches closed. It can be used for some serious speed testing or just for a calm evening flight.
Finally, if you are watching Flitetest videos, it is not a queation whether you are sick or not but if you dare, make the hatch big enough to fit in two batteries in parrallel. Depending on the used capacity you can get up to one hour of flight time with only 4800mAh 3 cell. The Versa itself can carry huge amounts of weight so an additional camera AND FPV AND light system would not any problem at all.
Obviously it is not necessary to tell you what to do with an this way awesome flying plane but this is the latest compilation of versa FPV and nonFPV scenes out of the last months. If you are still in the building process, make the whole nose section slightly thicker. That saves you some serious trouble on placing electronics.
