I apologize for my English This is my first project without plans...well I made the plans.
I hotwire cut a Viggen (thanks to David). I learned so much with it, but I like the Typhoon more (sorry David). I started using SketchUp, finding a good typhoon model and scale to fit my 70mm EDF. The original EDF comes from my Viggen as it was already dead. It lost a rudder on a fast roll and hit the ground nose down
My goals are:
1.- To make it fly
2.- To make it a good looking jet
3.- To have retractable landing gear (air inlet is on the bottom so maybe there will be no belly landing)
4.- To have airfoil wings
Specs:
Eurofighter Typhoon EDF Luftwaffe
Material Foamular 2" inch (pink foam)
Wing span 800 mm (31.5 inches)
Length 1130 mm (44.5 inches)
flying weight: ? (hopefully 1200 gr)
Landing gear: tricycle retractable max 2kg AUW
Edf: Detrumm 70mm EDF
Esc: 60 A
Battery: 3000 mAh 14.8v 30C Lipo
First, I measured all the electronics, battery, EDF, ESC's, servos..download SketchUp models of everything to scale.
I did some research about EDF's and make sure those findings, things like FSA (Fan sweep area), are meeting in the model. Next, I choose the place where it should be a section of the template.
Then it was exported to a CAD file and printed.
Here in Mexico, it's not easy to find wood cutting for the template but there is a paper and works great. It is not easy to cut and I use a cutter has to do a 2-3 pass to cut, can be sanded best of all you do not need any wood and the hot wire goes easy.
Hopefully, I will maiden it soon.
